This weekend (May 4-5, 2013), our Iowa-based company is headed back to Niagara Falls, Canada to manage an annual video game event hosted by the District School Board of Niagara.

Jet Set Studio has developed UGC Niagara to be a long-term fundraiser that directly supports education, charities, and economic growth in Niagara Falls.  This interactive event is ultra unique, but don’t just take our word for it…

Along with over 1,000 live attendees, our professionally produced live stream (www.UGCNiagara.com/LIVE) is something few in our community understand.  Watching a live stream is similar to watching any live event on TV, but differs in that it’s an exciting online experience driven by a dramatically increased level of user interactivity.  Online viewers are further engaged by live chats, commentary, sponsor-driven commercials, and tons of online sharing.

Why do we share this quick insight on live streaming?  Because the amount of engaged traffic live streaming can generate is truly amazing.  We have had 550,000+ and 475,000+ viewers at our last two weekend events, and we plan to literally have over 1,000,000 viewers at UGC Niagara this weekend, over on www.UGCNiagara.com/LIVE

Did you know that Des Moines has hosted one of the Midwest’s largest eSports events the last three years?  Since 2010, The Iowa Pro Gaming Challenge has been built with the same mojo as UGC Niagara, yet it is being starved for resources because of the lacking awareness here in Iowa.

We’ve been building this encore event ever since it was announced at the end of UGC Niagara in 2012, during this interview between our CEO, Ben McDougal, and Dino Miele.  As our entire team prepares for something amazing up in Canada, here are a few highlights that have already caused quite a stir over the past few months…

- 32 Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 team passes, sold out through online registration, three weeks before the event.

- After hearing an outcry for a larger bracket, we made this announcement and sold out of 16 new Black Ops 2 team passes…in under 10 minutes!  Later, we released another 16 passes and sold out once more!

- The Halo community was a bit slow to lock in, so we deployed a similar strategy to what worked with Call of Duty.  We unlocked 16 Halo 4 team passes with this announcement on Twitter, and sold out that same evening.

- We’ve sold over 100 team passes through online registration alone.

- Besides ultra-exciting team pass sales and full brackets for three separate video game divisions, we’ve also established an impressive line-up of meaningful UGC Niagara Sponsors.

- We’ve always been fueled by the community, so we’re extra excited about not only all the great players attending from around North America, but that we were also able to make Spectator Passes free of charge.  We expect to to hit full capacity and that should make for some interesting highlights for sure.

- There are few people in the eSports industry that bring more klout than the leading commentators we’ve commissioned to lead our professionally-produced live stream.  Names like GoldenBoyFTW, Hastr0, Walshy, Rambo, and more will entertain online viewers all weekend long.  Our own BENovator may pop on camera throughout the weekend as well.

As cool as UGC Niagara will be, we’re perhaps most proud of the fact that this video game event has spawned another regional event that is focused on education, learning, and technology.

Connect 2013 is a Canada-wide convention that is the Monday and Tuesday after UGC Niagara.  Our interactive gaming event is literally launching a whole new event that has everyone in the education and technology world talking.  This folks, is why we consider the DSBN one of the most progressive school districts in all of North America, eh!

The contest itself is still growing, but it’s already been exciting to share the big prize packages.  Graphics for the official Xbox 720 Contest page were fun to create today, and we had fun sharing the announced contest with a few initial eSports community leaders.  Having select allies jump out and start sharing it on Twitter, which was just three friends share it to a total of 37,500 followers!

Even so, one of the coolest developments from today’s announcement, was how quickly search engines (like Google) picked up on the news.  Imagine the amount of people who may be searching for a term like “tournaments Xbox 720” if Microsoft’s next generation console is indeed called the Xbox 720.  Being ahead of the time on SEO is what our firm does to provide the most value with the innovated and still underestimated application over on www.TournamentSeeker.com.

Founder and CEO, Ben McDougal, was asked to share the story of Jet Set Studio at this event.  With coffee cup in hand and legs crossed while sitting in a comfy chair, Ben shared the untold story of how Jet Set Studio came to be back in 2007.  He also highlighted the progressive vision of our company and highlighted the recent launch of Tournament Seeker.

A few minutes later, it was time for Q & A with the audience.  This is really where the experience got good, because although some questions had been asked/answered many times before, a few thoughts and challenging questions really helped generate some new perspectives on what this company is doing and where we plan to go.
